This Montebello 2001 cask strength rum is a new selection from Famille Ricci, breeder, blender and bottler since 2019 in the south of France.
Description
Produced by the Montebello distillery in Guadeloupe, this dark rum is 100% pure cane juice. It aged 17 years in Bourbon barrels then 4 years in Jurançon barrels, for a total aging of 21 years in the tropics.
Distilled in 2001 then bottled at 45.4% cask strength in 2022, this vintage rum has an expressive nose of candied fruit and spices as well as a great aromatic richness on the palate. Spices such as nutmeg and clove pleasantly sublimate the quince jam, the vine peach marmalade and the bagasse with hints of honey. The finish is persistent on dried apricot and slightly damp wood.
The great aromatic concentration makes this Famille Ricci - Montebello 2001 rum deliciously surprising.
