A family history

At the Buzzos, wine is a family affair! This story continues with Thierry, a child of Bonifacio, who learned winemaking with his grandparents and then his father, Vincent Buzzo, before creating his own wine-farm in 2009 on family land. Thierry thus perpetuates the family tradition and is part of the renaissance of viticulture in Bonifacio.

A vineyard extending today over 12 hectares

Domaine Buzzo Bunifazziu is a vineyard that extends over 12 hectares planted on clay-limestone soils, located on the limestone plateau of Bonifacio. It includes exceptional terroirs: Ciafara, Rocca Gianta, Biginti and Cian di Fossi. It is on these same plots that many wine presses in the limestone rock dating back more than 8 centuries have been discovered, proving that when Bonifacio was a Genoese colony, the cultivation of the vine was already very present. Today, Thierry and Vincent submit to the terroir by letting it express itself in all its authenticity. Cultivating their vines with the greatest respect for nature, in a biological and biodynamic approach, they do not use any chemical fertilizers and apply phytotherapy to the vines, thus avoiding the use of oenological inputs.

Great plot wines

Domaine Buzzo Bunifazziu offers a range of wines intimately linked to their terroir, to their plot. Each name assigned to the wines characterizes the locality of the plot on which they are located. The red Cian di Fossi (Minustellu grape variety) is a very structured wine, with fine and silky tannins, with a salty side. Rosé Ciafara (Sciacarellu, Barbarossa and Niellucciu grape varieties) reveals a lot of freshness and citrus notes. Red Ciafara (Niellucciu and Sciacarellu grape varieties) is an airy wine with fine supple tannins. Blanc Roca Gianca (Vermentino grape variety) aged in barrels is a very mineral, greedy and floral wine with a nice acidity on the finish. Finally, Blanc Biginti (Barbarossa grape variety) offers notes of white flowers and honeydew with a nice roundness.
