Château de Beaucastel : one mythical Domaine from Châteauneuf-du-Pape AOC

Within the Rhône valley, this Domaine is an emblem. Originally founded during the 14th century, it’s been owned since the beginning of the 20th century by the Perrin family and is one of the not so many to cultivate the 13 authorized grape varieties of Châteauneuf-du-Pape appellation. Famous for their quality and ageing potential, the Château de Beaucastel wines have become a solid reference in France and in the world as well. These wines perfectly express the Perrin family’s know-how and their strong willingness to continue the tradition. This Domaine also produces a wine as rare as prestigious and we are more than proud to be able to offer it on our online boutique : the cuvée “Hommage à Jacques Perrin”.

An old vineyard that’s been belonging to the same family for decades

The first signs of Château de Beaucastel date back to the 16th century and more specifically to 1549 when Pierre de Beaucastel bought a barn and a few lands. In 1909, the Domaine is taken over by Pierre Tramier who then passed it to Pierre Perrin, his son-in-law. Then, it was Jacques Perrin’s turn to carry on in the business until 1978 and succeeded on making the Château’s wines noble and renowned. Nowadays, Jacques Perrin’s sons are running the family property with the fifth generation. It is indeed one true wine love and family story carried by the respect of both soil and terroir but also biodynamics. Chemical fertilizers are banned and replaced by home-made compost. Among the 130 hectares, 100 are dedicated to the culture of the 13 grape varieties belonging to the world famous Châteauneuf-du-Pape appellation : Mourvèdre, Grenache, Syrah, Cinsault, Vaccarèse, Counoise, Terret Noir, Muscardin, Clairette, Picpoul, Picardan, Bourboulenc and Roussanne.

Year by year, the wines of Château de Beaucastel strengthen in depth and complexity. This is why their ageing potential is so appreciated. If you wish to taste these wines, we currently provide a few bottles on our website, including the cuvée Hommage à Jacques Perrin. Nonetheless, quantities are very limited so do not wait too long before you order !
