Domaine Serafin, a family vineyard in Burgundy

Domaine Serafin has 6 hectares of vineyards, situated on several iconic communes of Côte de Nuits such as Gevrey-Chambertin. They also own some parcels in Chambolle-Musigny and Morey-Saint-Denis. Notwithstanding its small area, the wine estate produces high standard wines. By the way, Domaine Serafin is praised by La Revue de Vins de France (a notorious French wine magazine) that points out as follows : « We were strongly impressed by the wines of this small but outstanding estate ». A valuable sign of recognition for the second generation of this winemakers family whose wine estate has great future ahead.

Sustainable and organic wine making culture

The overriding concern in these vineyards is the respect of the environment, the soils and the terroir. That is why Christian Serafin, who succeeded his father in the wine estate management, decided to favor sustainable wine farming which means that he avoids weedkillers and fertilizers. He applies them exceptionally as a matter of urgent necessity in limited quantities and only organic ones. The vinification method there is traditional and the grape harvest is 100% destemmed. The grapes are harvested manually at the highest peak of maturity and the pigeage samples are taken regularly. All this summed up, the domaine applies traditional wine growing method which allows to produce great generous wines with an important cellaring potential for certain vintages.
