Domaine Alain Burguet : an organic wine, respectful of the nature

When evoking this domaine, we're used to say that it does not follow the trend. This is why, since its creation, the owner Alain Burguet, decided to ban all the chemical solutions for vine treatment. Therefore, he favored organic vine growing at a period of time when it was a rare practice. This approach allowed him to differentiate himself from the other wine makers and produce wines, loyal to their philosophy and renowned for their high quality, their purity and their smoothness. To this day, he has chosen the most natural vine treatment method with his two sons, who took over the business. With its 8 hectares, approximately, this Property is mostly located in Gevrey-Chambertin and harvests, most of the time, later than the others. Another detail which makes a difference.

A one of a kind Burgundy vineyard with an ideal location

This wine estate was entirely created by Alain Burguet. In the 90’s with a small group of wine makers, they found a way to give the badge of honor to the village of Gevrey-Chambertin. But it's mostly the wish to produce wines respecting the nature that contributed to an excellent reputation of this wine maker. Cultivated without artificial fertilizers and weedkillers, the vineyard groups the grapes of the old Pinot Noir vines, situated on 25 different parcels.

Each year the grapes are gathered manually and sorted three times in order to have the perfectly ripe grapes. For the wine making natural yeasts are used. Sometimes, in case of high importance, sulphur and copper are used but in a very limited quantity to avoid taste distortion. Also, the wines age in barrels from 18 to 24 months, depending on cuvées and vintages. And for what concerns the bottling, the wine is unfined and unfiltered. A work method perpetuated by the two sons of Alain Burguet, Eric and Jean-Luc.

Organic wines that perfectly reflect Côte de Nuits terroir

Great attention is paid to the vines of this estate. The yields being limited, organic wine growing is strictly followed since the beginning of biodynamics in 2011. Since then, Domaine Alain Burguet cuvées express their harmony and intensity.

Among these wines you can find red Burgundy, Gevrey-Chambertin with its famous « Mes Favorites », AOC Vosne-Romanée, but also Clos de Bèze Grand Cru. You can order these wines in our online shop as our team selected some bottles in limited quantities for you.
