Today we can talk about the myth "Caroni", this state distillery on the Island of Trinidad founded in 1923 and closed in 2002 due to the decline of the sugar industry in Trinidad. With its closure, the world is deprived of its heavy rums, with high ester content and the petroleum flavor so characteristic of Caroni rums .
Fortunately, Luca Gargano, president of the Italian trader Velier, discovered two years after the end of the distillery, large stocks of the legendary Caroni rum, giving us exceptional releases.
This is the case of this Caroni 2000 Single Cask 3790 rum, selected by the Swiss company Paul Ullrich AG. Distilled in 2000, this heavy rum aged for 15 years on the island of Trinidad before being bottled at 70.3%, without reduction or additives, from Single Cask #3790.
