Today we can talk about the myth "Caroni", this state distillery of Trinidad founded in 1923 and closed in 2002 due to the decline of the sugar industry on the island. With its closure, the world was deprived of its heavy rums, with high ester content and the oily flavor so characteristic of Caroni rums .
Luca Gargano, president of the Italian trader Velier, discovered large stocks of the legendary Caroni rum two years after the distillery ended, giving us some exceptional releases, including this one.
This Caroni 2000 Single Cask R4002 heavy rum was distilled in 2000 and aged for 17 years on the island of Trinidad. It was bottled by Velier especially for Eataly at 68.4%, without reduction or additives, from Single Cask #R4002 and in only 242 copies.
This rare vintage once again expresses all the know-how and authenticity of the Caroni distillery, which no longer exists today. Its tasting is the promise of an unforgettable moment.
