The rum Belize 46°, another signature of the prestigious Mezan house, is a 2008 vintage distilled by the Travelers Liquors Distillery in Belize, a small country located between Guatemala and Mexico.
Description
After a natural fermentation phase, this molasses rum from Belize was distilled in a triple column still, then placed in ex-bourbon barrels on site in a tropical climate for 3 years. This old rum then benefited from 10 additional years of aging in a continental climate in Europe, still in ex-bourbon barrels, for a total aging of 13 years.
Without added sugar or coloring and bottled without chill filtration, this vintage Belize dark rum is highly authentic and once again perfectly reflects the philosophy of "untouched rum" promoted by Mezan.
In the nose, this rum offers sweet notes of vanilla and oak, while on the palate, elegant touches of orange crème brûlée and hazelnuts surprise us. Then comes the finish, both complex and persistent, with notes of candied fruit and caramel.
